I haven't drawn a simple wildlife portrait in some time. It was marvelous fun exploring the bounce light, warm and cool colors, and values in the textures! If I had more time I would push the details and colors even more. Several things bother me, it's what I get for not making sure my base sketch was solid before diving into painting.

I love/cherish/adore hummingbirds. I have a habit of making up hummingbirds every once in a while, mostly to practice iridescence. None of them come even close to the beauty of the real birds.

I wanted to capture the look and feel of a classical painting, specifically along the lines of Rembrandt's work. I couldn't manage the richness of an oil painting digitally, but I hope that some sense of richness is conveyed. This charming opossum belongs to Loiosh. The couch is mostly of my own design, a few bits inspired from the Handbook of Ornamental Motifs.

A super badge commission, a miniature painting really, for Footpad. I like this version without the text. Footpad is a malamute/wolf hybrid and he asked for a very interesting angle. He liked the badge I did for Autumn Sunrise and wanted something of similar colors, too. This badge was such fun, I really love fall colors.

After finishing more serious work, I like to wind down wind down and play with media. I free handed the inks of this kitsune critter with a brush and ink, used white paint and colored pencil to ad some form and went goofy with gold ink and leafing pen. I also put a real stone in the forehead, so this piece is pretty shiny in person. All in all, it was relaxing. Anatomy errors abound, I tell people all the time I suck at drawing. No one ever listens.

A fire juggling kitsune! I tried to put a twist on the usual kitsune by making this guy a cross fox, my favorite pelt pattern on foxes. Its a cross between a silver fox phase and the regular red fox phase.

The feline sushi chef offers you a tasty selection of his best salmon. MMmmMMMmmmm... I've finally finished this piece! It's made to print huge...poster sized, bigger! I don't normally draw millions of hairs, but I did here. I had to order sushi twice (oh no...) to get the look of food right. I still have some issues with it, but it's done and will be at FC as a big ol happy print. This is the first piece I have ever done mostly in Photoshop. It does some neat things with translucent colors. I did about a quarter of this in Painter.

This was never supposed to end up as finished piece. I was just sketching on typing paper and then I got new graphite stuff to play with: nice dark sticks of graphite and graphite powder. I played around with it all on this guy. I need to redo this since there are a lot of things which bother me. Is it things THAT bother me or things WHICH bother me?

My very first human piece, EVAR. I've done some scribbles before of people, but never a full fledged piece. Skin tones are way harder than fur, but adding age spots and veins and wrinkles is fun. This is going to be used as a bookmark to promote Scott Appleton's book, "The Sword of the Dragon: Swords of the Six" Now I can upload the real version of this. :>

I was sad that the background was covered up in the first version of this, so Kimaria got another piece with her wolf character, this time, while she was still alive. The time of year is different, so there are mushrooms (in other words, I meant to put chanterelles in the first version, only I forgot).

This was fun, even if I was a little tired of drawing Psittacines by the end of it. I wish I had time to add more birds but this piece is due. I did my best to get the relative sizes correct, but it was mainly guesswork with some tips from Nam. All you parrot lovers, how did I do?

This piece is brought to you by germs in my head. After a bit of late night delirium caused by my head cold, I got up, still pretty sure that I was being followed by my deamon, and sat down to paint. The other day I saw a painting out the corner of my eye in a store of what I thought was something like this, but it wasn't. It was actually a painting of an Indian sitting on a horse with some drippy watercolor. :P Anyway, Vantid is sitting at the edge cause it probably looks pretty cool down there.

An old holiday piece. I fully intended to do all 12 days at the time. Haha, oh, ambition. I sketched two turtle doves and then I had to go to work. So, partridge with a pear. Chuka chuka chukar.
